Empower your Evening

If it’s one thing that I’ve grown to love as an adult it’s the evening time. When the sun begins to take its bow; that special time when you finally close your laptop, the demands of the day subside and you can hear yourself think for the first time! Depending on what you do there are many things we can not control throughout the day but one thing that we can control is our very own “ME TIME”. This is your special time to cater to Y - O - U, for “your - own - use”, no distractions, no responding to emails, no picking up the phone, and no fires to put out…let it burn!

I know, I know everyone’s lifestyle is different, I understand. I may be speaking to single mothers, caretakers, women who work late and get off in the morning, etc. I will preface my forward statement by saying this, whatever time you can carve out for you to wind down, even if just a small window, take it and grab hold of it for dear life sis!

Now, set a specific time when you decide you are wrapped up for the day and what’s left can be continued tomorrow! This is now your own dedicated time,  I for one, start this off with the following steps:

  1. Clear the space: your office, workstation, kitchen and living room. Clean it up and clear it out, this will ultimately de-clutter your brain.
  2. Intentions:  blinds down, candles lit, and soft playlist on. I’m not sure what your day-to-day is but one thing I do know is you are a woman and WE GO THROUGH THINGS!
  3. Relax: Sit or lay down, close your eyes and think of absolutely … nothing. Picture emptiness, light, space, freedom, openness and allow it to consume you. This is what some like to call meditation, there is no special formula, it’s simply being mindful of your state of being so you can create the intentions you desire. In this case, we want to relax, self-soothe and be at peace
  4. Release: Think of something you like to do, an easy lift that innately makes you happy. I’m doing mine right now, writing! You may love to paint, journal, sing, walk, run, or watch your favorite TV Show, “ I burn for you” (if you don’t get that reference…bye). These things are the ultimate stress relievers what they like to call endorphins.

Last but certainly not least…

5. Night-time routine: having a routine in preparation for the sheets is vital. I’m still working on the last part (trying to go to bed at a decent hour.)
  • Prepare your day for tomorrow, know what you are going to wear tomorrow and have it out.
  • Read a book, listen to music or a podcast.
  • Have your skincare products and tools ready to go cleanse, tone, exfoliate, serum/moisturizer, and by tools I mean get ready for our new HD collection coming soon (selfish plug).
Listen, you don’t need to do a lot to achieve this, you just have "to be", at its essence. A place in time where you don’t have to answer to anyone, you don’t have to do anything or be anything to anyone, just showing up for you, for once. Hopefully, this sticks and becomes an everyday ritual because you will start to feel a boost of extra energy throughout the day, more positive thoughts and less stress. I won’t tire you with additional self-care rituals but I will create anticipation for what’s to come that will surely help in part. 2 ……cliff hanger.
